How do you take your coffee?
I’m not really picky when it comes to my coffee. Usually with a couple creams (if they’re within reach), but black is just fine. But I do prefer my coffee iced when it’s hot outside, which in LA… it always is.

What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?
Fierce, fun and fabulous

What’s your favorite part about working at NRPR Group?
Definitely my coworkers. They’re amazing, fun, and I would genuinely consider them my friends outside of work. There have been a few occasions where I’ve been at home and randomly started laughing at something a coworker said to me that day.

Tell us about one of your best social media moments on the job:
It’s not a specific example, but it’s always cool to see popular influencers, television shows and personalities engaging with our content. A client was recently retweeted by a hit VH1 show she watches. That was awesome to see!

You also do a little bit of PR work, tell us about an exciting or rewarding moment there:
I have a whole new respect for publicists now. The rewarding moments have always come when a reporter publishes a story I’ve pitched to them. There was one reporter (for a large outlet based in the Bay Area) who had been pitched numerous times by my colleagues. I sent her a pitch and follow-up, and, although she did not cover the story herself, she passed it on to a colleague. I also had an editor at Good Housekeeping tell me that I should teach a class in PR. Definitely flattering, considering I was still fairly new to the game. But I give credit to my awesome team and mentors!

When you’re not creating social media calendars and interacting with fans, what can we find you doing?
Preferably, sleeping. But I love to dance, and occasionally hold free hip-hop dance classes for anyone to learn. I also tutor homeless youth with an organization here in LA, and I absolutely love it. Aside from that, I’m out looking for the best buffalo wings and manhattans in the city. Any suggestions?

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone hoping to start a career in social media management?
Honestly, just understand the platforms. As a typical user, it’s very easy to learn how Facebook, Twitter, etc. work. After all, you just log in, post an update, “Like” a few friends’ new engagement, sandwich and/or cat posts… and move on. It’s different for brands though. You have a ton of different features available to you, but you have to first know how to use them. For instance, do you know you can schedule a post natively on Twitter? There’s no specific button that takes you to the scheduling page, but with a few quick tricks and URL changes, you’ll get there!
