How to Represent Yourself & Your Company at Events

IMG_9736

It’s fall! While that may not mean too much weather-wise for us folks here in Beverly Hills, we’re excited to kick off a new season and keep smashing it for our clients as we head into the holidays.

Although it’s only October… that time of year is quickly approaching, and we are oh so excited for all of the fun events, holiday parties and more that we’ll get to attend with our team, clients, and more.

Whether it be a fun holiday event with your team, or even a networking or client event at any point in the year, there are a few simple guidelines Team NRPR always follows when attending events, to ensure we’re putting our best selves out there and representing our team with pride and grace. Today on the blog and ahead of event season, we wanted to share a few of our favorites with you:

1. Treat client and outside events like a wedding.
Never assume it’s OK to bring a plus one. Always ask for clearance before bringing any guests to an event that you are not hosting. If it’s a client event, ask your director or supervisor if it’s OK to ask the client if you can add someone to the guest list. They own the event and final say on who can attend. Always ask, even if you assume it will be a yes.

2. If you RSVP for an event, GO!
Unless there is an emergency or unfortunate, unforeseen occurrence that requires your attention,  if you RSVP for an event, GO! Keep your commitments and don’t let “flaking” ever be an option. If an emergency does arise, take steps as soon as you are able to reach out to the event host and let them know you are no longer able to make it. They will appreciate the heads up.

3. Be professional, but also friendly and personable.
This is especially true for networking events, and events where you’re representing your company or a client. It’s important to always be professional, carry yourself well, dress appropriately, and carry yourself with confidence. However, don’t act like a robot! Engage in conversation, be yourself, and let your personality shine through. Any other professional will be able to spot nervous or fake energy a mile away!

4. Don’t get intoxicated. Ever.
This one is simple: no matter what event you’re at, never get intoxicated — in any way, shape or form  — before or during the event. A drink or two is okay, if alcohol is being served, but know your limits and don’t over do it. And always plan a safe way home!

5. Don’t forget your business cards!
This one seems small, but you’d be surprised at how easy it is to forget them! Keep a stack in your purse or wallet, computer bag, car, make up case… anything that you typically have on you, so that you never forget. If someone offers you their card and you don’t have one in return… it looks bad!

6. Make sure your phone is charged.
This one mainly pertains to working client events (of course, you should always make sure that phone is juiced in case you need it)! However, when you’re working for or representing your client at an event, having a charged phone will help you make phone calls for last minute things, keep track of notes, and more.

These are just a few of the tips we live by here at NRPR Group to make sure we’re always representing ourselves and the Company with pride.
